Ups

Lindsay Lohan on a up

Lindsay Lohan is “only going up,up,up”.

The troubled actress – whose career has floundered amid a series of legal problems and spells in rehab – insists she is putting her bad times behind her and is focused on getting her life back on track.

Responding to a twitter follower who described her as “forever my childhood crush”, she posted: “omg! really? that’s so cool hahaha thank you xoxo – sorry for the ups and downs… only going up up up from here!

“i’m a tough cookie! a focused tough cookie! :) (sic)”

Lindsay – who is currently undergoing community service at the Los Angeles County Morgue as part of her punishment for breaching probation – also revealed she has gotten into a regular routine to be prepared for her unpaid work, and has cut down on her use of social networking websites in order to tackle domestic tasks at home.

She tweeted: “i actually watch the news every single morning when i get up for community service, starting at 5am :)

“i’m only on [twitter] for quick moments at a time lol… i’m actually cleaning – was at community service all day (sic)”.

Lindsay’s positive attitude comes as she was praised by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who told her she seems to be getting her “life back on track” during a progress hearing yesterday (22.02.12).

The ‘Mean Girls’ star has 14 more days of community service and five counselling sessions to complete before March 29, and then her probation will be over.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, a source told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush that Lindsay scored the role of Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime TV movie, “Liz and Dick,” with one legal-related caveat: Lindsay needs to stay on the right side of court.

According to the source, if the actress continues to stick to the judge’s orders, as she has been doing, she will be playing the “Cleopatra” beauty in the Lifetime made-for-TV film about the late actress.

In addition, she will host “Saturday Night Live” on March 3, with Jack White as the musical guest.

Lindsay Lohan's Legal Fees: How Much Money She's Spent Over The Years

The economy might not be in the greatest shape, but thankfully Lindsay Lohan keeps a select few attorneys in the black. Every week it seems there is a new Lohan-related lawsuit or court appearance, and her legal fees are really starting to add up.

In the latest suit against the actress to hit the news, Lohan’s legal team was tasked with firing off yet another response last month to a Betty Ford staff member who claimed the actress assaulted her when she tried to give her a breathalyzer test in December 2010. Yes, it’s the same rehab staffer who sued Lohan for $1 million for grabbing her wrist and twisting it. Lohan’s attorneys have claimed the actress was provoked and are asking that the staffer cover her legal fees.

But it’s not just lawsuits against Lohan that are racking up her money and her attorney’s time. In late January, Lohan was reportedly threatening to sue RadarOnline over their report she was “slammed” at a SAG after-party at Chateau Marmont.

Is Lohan concerned about her legal bills these days? She probably should be. She may have gotten a nice paycheck from her Playboy cover, but her trips and travails in and out of the court room have likely cost her well over a million of dollars over the past several years, according to some legal experts.

“If you quantify for the past four and a half years she has needed legal representation, you can generalize that with the amount of time, work and legal challenges, probation hearings, court appearances, etc., the legal fees could be no less that hundreds of thousands of dollars and likely over a million,” said attorney Vikki Ziegler.

Lohan has been embroiled in her fair share of legal dust-ups over the past four years, has appeared in court on numerous occasions, and has been sentenced to jail.

In cases like hers, where legal drama is ongoing — more typical of a corporate entity than a single star — the lawyers will request a retainer on top of hourly fees to do the continuing work to keep a case moving through the courts.

“The retainer covers part of the case so that we can get started, but generally not all of the case,” attorney Joey Jackson told The Huffington Post. “The ultimate amount a client is charged depends upon the nature of the case, its complexity, and the work involved (i.e. motions, hearings, trial expenses, etc).”

Jackson estimates that a retainer of at least $50,000 was paid each time Lohan was been sentenced to jail. That gives us a base of $250,000. But hourly rates, which can run into the $600 range for a high-profile defense attorney, have likely quadrupled that, Ziegler estimated for The Huffington Post — mainly because of the cases’ length and the complications that come with defending a celebrity.

“Many cases that have such longevity, complications and require media attention always inflate the normal and customary legal fees,” Ziegler said. “I have represented high-profile clients and the added layer of celebrity status injects additional costs and strategy that no one ever discusses.”

Those added expenses can include a driver, security helping her get into the court house, and even a stylist to figure out what she will wear.

And the drama is far from over. The ramifications of Lohan’s many legal dramas continue to ricochet through the Los Angeles legal system. Even if the actress shapes up, it’s likely she’ll continue paying for past incursions for the next several years.

People: Ouch! Ex-neighbors hearten Lindsay Lohan's relocating out

Lindsay Lohan’s former Venice Beach neighbors are celebrating her move from the area.

She recently moved to the Chateau Marmont in L.A., much to their relief.

Lindsay is living for free at the Marmont, thanks to an artist friend who loaned her his place, Radaronline reports.

But, yikes, it’s clear she won’t be missed in her old hood: Her former neighbors weren’t shy about their feelings on seeing her go.

“Everyone is ecstatic that she moved,” one ex-neighbor said. “Goodbye to her and all her drama.

“Since she moved here it’s been a complete circus with a revolving door of friends in and out of her house and paparazzi camped out permanently. Everyone was so sick of her and her constant attention-seeking and mess-ups.”

Another neighbor echoed the sentiment: “Seriously, every time we heard a siren we hoped and prayed it was the police carting her off again and we would be left in peace.

“People move to Venice to get away from all the Hollywood bulls**t and everything that she represents, it was a nightmare when she was here.

Sam [Ronson] has lived here for ages and she’s never been any drama, she’s very low key and just goes about her business, but Lohan was like a hurricane, or some other natural disaster tearing through the neighborhood.

“Good riddance to bad rubbish quite frankly.”

Lindsay, 25, reportedly moved out of her beach residence because of several stalkers that have attempted to make contact with her.

The proprietors of the Chateau Marmont are no strangers to hard partiers in the hotel’s 25-year history.

Courtney Love, Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Heath Ledger, Leonardo DiCaprio and John Lennon have all infamously stayed at the Chateau — John Belushi overdosed and died there, and legend has it that members of Led Zeppelin rode their motorbikes through the lobby one

night.

Brad Pitt better prepare for a barrage of criticism over his parenting techniques. What’s his secret weapon with his kids? Coca-Cola.

“Listen, I admit there’s times like, ‘We gotta get up. Get up! Here’s your shoes. Here’s your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca-Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it!’ Just so we could get ‘em up and

going,” Pitt told James Lipton in an upcoming episode of “Inside the Actor’s Studio.”

Pitt, who’s nominated for best actor at this month’s Academy Awards for his role in “Moneyball,” has six children — three biological and three adopted — with partner Angelina Jolie.

He agreed to the interview after turning down a chance to appear on “Inside the Actors Studio” in 2004 because he did not have a “sufficient body of work.” Since then he’s turned in critically acclaimed performances in both “Moneyball” and “Tree of Life.” Pitt is nominated  for best actor for his work in “Moneyball.”

Pitt’s episode of “Inside the Actors Studio” will air on Feb. 10.

It’s been over 30 years since Suzanne Somers left the cast of “Three’s Company.”

Somers, who played  bubble-headed sexy blonde Chrissy Snow, quit over a salary dispute with the sitcom’s producers.

But  yesterday she had an emotional reunion with former castmate Joyce DeWitt, who played Janet Wood on the show, which ended in 1984.

DeWitt appeared on Suzanne Somers’ Breaking Through, the actress’ new online show.

Although Somers, 65, and DeWitt, 62, had a public spat for years after Somers’ departure, they happily embraced like old pals on the show.

In their first meeting in over three decades, the actresses reminisced about their days as TV roomies and remembered their co-star John Ritter (Jack Tripper), who died suddenly in 2003.
