Johnny Depp has played a tourist, a pirate, and a guy with scissors for hands. So maybe taking on Tonto, the near-silent sidekick to Lone Ranger in the new Disney movie , isn t such a stretch.
For those who are not familiar with the radio show, which became a TV series: The Lone Ranger was a the long-running show starring the masked Clayton Moore as a Texas Ranger on his white horse, Silver, who fought crime in the Old West with his trusty man, Tonto, a sterotyped Native American, played by actual Native American actor Jay Silverheels .
