Michael Jackson Gets Mashed Up by Cirque du Soleil on ‘Immortal Megamix’ — Listen

Just as they did with the Beatles, the high-flying geniuses at Cirque du Soleil have given us a new way to experience the music of Michael Jackson. Earlier this month, the troupe hit the road with ‘Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour,’ a show based on the King of Pop’s music, and now — thanks to our hip-hop/RB sister site The Boombox — we have the ‘Immortal Megamix,’ a track from the accompanying soundtrack.
Due out Nov. 21, ‘Immortal’ finds musical director Kevin Atunes drawing from more than 40 of Jackson’s indelible recordings, combining and transforming them to build entirely new songs. Case in point: ‘Immortal Megamix,’ which mashes together ‘Can You Feel It,’ ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,’ ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Black or White.’
It’s four songs in one, which is very much in keeping with Jackson’s larger-than-life, bigger-is-better approach to art and life. The King is gone, but thanks to the magic of technology and legions of people he inspired, his music lives on.
