Michael Jackson’s estate has signed a huge deal with Pepsi, according to reports.

When the singer was still alive he worked with the soft drinks giant on numerous occasions throughout his career. This posthumous deal will, according to TMZ, include a brand new TV advert and special edition cans of Pepsi emblazoned with Michael Jackson’s image as well as offering the chance to win remixes of Jackson’s songs to download.

A spokesperson for Michael Jackson’s estate told TMZ that the deal was made with regards to remarketing Jackson’s 1987 album, ‘Bad’. They said of the deal: “We’re here to market the ‘Bad’ album and Pepsi is the most effective place to do it.”

It was when filming an advert for Pepsi in 1984 that Jackson’s hair accidentally caught on fire, causing him scalp burns which for which he was prescribed the ‘heroin-like’ substance Demerol, which many say led to his addiction to prescription drugs.

Last month, the makers of the technology behind the Tupac hologram at Coachella which appeared during Dr Dre and Snoop Dog’s set, told NME that Michael Jackson would be their “ultimate” star to resurrect with the technology.

Adele has overtaken Michael Jackson in the UK’s all-time biggest selling albums list, according to the Official Charts Company.

The singer’s second album ’21′ has now sold 4,274,300 copies in the UK, 500 more than Jackson’s 1982 classic. ’21′ has sold an average of 20,000 copies per week over the last four weeks.

In the 15 months since Adele’s second album was released, it has spent 66 non-consecutive weeks on the Official Albums Chart, with 23 of those at Number 1. It has outsold Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ to become the biggest selling album of the 21st Century.

Abba’s ‘Gold’ is Number Three, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis is in fourth.

The biggest selling albums of all-time Top 10 now stands as follows:

1. Queen – ‘Greatest Hits’
2. The Beatles – ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’
3. Abba – ‘Gold’
4. Oasis – ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’

michael-jackson-pepsi-campaign.jpgPepsi will once again employ the King of Pop to sell some pop. The beverage maker has worked out a deal with the estate of Michael Jackson to feature his image in a marketing campaign launching this month.

The campaign is tied to the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s “Bad” album and will feature his image in ad campaigns and on “limited edition” 16-ounce cans of Pepsi — if 1 billion cans can be considered “limited.” The campaign rolls out this weekend in China and will hit the United States later in May. It will then spread to additional markets in Europe, South America and Asia.

Jackson’s estate is also working with Pepsi and Sony Music to release new mixes of songs from “Bad,” and Pepsi will run contests to win merchandise and tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour” show.

Jackson had a long business relationship with Pepsi, dating back to 1983 when he helped launch the brand’s “New Generation” tagline. (It was during the filming of a Pepsi ad in 1984 that pyrotechnics set Jackson’s hair on fire and caused burns to his scalp.)

The new campaign won’t be the first time Jackson has been posthumously featured in a Pepsi campaign: Images of him were used in the company’s “music icons” spot that aired during “The X Factor” last fall.

What do you think of the new campaign?

Lindsay Lohan works her bar magic; bad things allegedly ensue

Lindsay Lohan plus a nightclub equals bad mojo, it seems, no matter what she’s actually doing at the place.

Lilo, who just two weeks ago was accused of shoving a woman at the Smoke Mirrors club at the Standard hotel on Sunset, allegedly wound up on the wrong side of a thrown drink at that same club Wednesday night, where she’d been hanging out in a booth with dad Michael Lohan (apparently, they’re speaking again).

Michael had joined his daughter at the Standard, according to TMZ, after a friend who was driving her car hit another car in the Standard parking garage and Lindsay called him for help.

Calling in to TMZ Live on Thursday, Michael Lohan said nobody in their booth had been drinking alcohol, but confirmed that his daughter had cussed at a woman after a comment was made about father and daughter being together at the club.

Regarding the incident said to have happened on April 5, Lilo’s rep called the story “a lie” and said the actress had been at home that night watching TV; a report citing a law-enforcement source later surfaced, alleging that a surveillance video showed her at the club that night.

At the March 29 hearing that ended Lohan’s formal probation related to 2007 DUI charges — she remains on informal probation, and must “obey all laws” — Judge Stephanie Sautner stopped short of delivering a lecture.

She did, however, advise the 25-year-old to “live your life in a more mature way. Stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.”

Hard to argue with that.
