Conan said he did not want to hurt the Tonight Show franchise. So now please watch The Tonight Show as often as possible to help Conan get his wish. Conan also said not to be bitter. Please listen to Conan and support the Tonight Show.
The spark that started it all – In 1994, Conan was getting other offers. He wanted Jay’s job or leave NBC. Jay left, Conan had it for 7 months and NBC didn’t like it and wanted to keep both both of them. Guess what? Conan left anyway because of a half hour difference. He was still going to be on earlier than his Late Night show. He should have stayed and worked it and all would be happy.

Wow. This all happened because the affiliates were pissed that Leno sucked so much that no one watched him and so no one watched their nightly news. That in turn led to low ratings for Conan. So basically, Leno sucked SO BAD, that he started a chain reacted where people wouldn’t watch that channel for almost 3 hours. They didn’t want the peacock to remind them of big jaw. They were afraid they’d start puking all over again.
